In April 1972, Elvis Presley toured the Southeast, a run that MGM filmed Elvis during these April shows for the movie,  Elvis on Tour. T he movie went on to win the Golden Globe Award for Best Documentary Film. This soundboard recording from Hampton Roads on April 9, 1972, 4 dozen years ago today, captures one of those shows.  Elvis was still at the top of his game at this point, as the drugs which would plague his later years had not yet taken their toll on his ability to perform. His gospel album, He Touched Me, also released in April, would earn him his second Grammy Award, for Best Inspirational Performance. Elvis seemed to be thriving on the stage and in the studio, despite his separation from Priscilla and their impending divorce.  In fact, within a few weeks of these April shows, he would make concert history by selling out a then record 4 nights at Madison Square Garden. By 1973, however, the King would begin his tumble from the top of the music world, as depression from his separation from Priscilla would lead to the drug addiction that would eventually kill him.

This is one of those mythical concerts from the late 80's in Aula Magna.Unfortunatelly i was not able to witness this one but was able to get my hands on this tape soon after the concert. I don't know the source, i don't know the generation of my copy. I know that i bought it to some guys that sell through mail order.
I was working on this recording and while i was looking for the setlist for this show i found that on June 2015 a video of this show was uploaded to YouTube and a month ago a reworked version of it was also uploaded. The Audio is not the same. This is for sure a different source.

In the late 80's/early 90's, Clan of Xymox reduced their name to Xymox only, along with a change in their sound, that was influenced by the independnt UK dance scene, they left the 4AD record label, releasing an album through a major label.


In this good audience video they play mostly songs from their first two Xymox albuns, Twist of Shadows and Phoenix. 

I have no setlist for this one, maybe someone can help.

One of the greatest bands of all time (well i think so)
caught in their early days this set is made up of stuff
from the classic "Pink Flag" album
and what would've been their current LP "Chairs Missing".
A note of interest is the track "The Other Window"
which would be released on the 3rd more experimental "154" LP
but here it's played in a more fast quirky early Wire style.
A pretty good recording, could be soundboard but I'm not 100% sure
but hey it's Wire from 78 that's what matters right kids?
