BTO recorded live at the Agora in Cleveland between the 2nd and 3rd LP's. "Not Fragile" was released in August of '74 and considering that all songs come from the first 2 releases this would lead one to believe early 1974 is the ballpark date.

I have done a few minor things to clean up the disc, made a couple of song transitions a bit smoother and took out 2 dead spaces. I also cut a bit of the underlying hiss and had to boost a noticeable volume loss during "American Woman", there is a possibility this is an LP transfer due to a few minor bits of surface noise.

I ran it through the spectral analysis to make sure there was no lossy lineage.

Overall very good...

================================================== ================

This was sent to me labeled Australia 1974, but the band didn't travel overseas that year. (as far as I know...)

I only see US dates for the entire year. I've labeled this based on 2 references.

First reference comes from etree that did have other collectors with this cd, dated Feb 1, 1974 Australia.

Finding no other overseas dates, I'm leaning to think that Australia is mis-labeled.

The second reference comes from setlist.fm. That shows a long list of US dates and Feb 1, is listed as Knoxville, TN.

After a lot of consideration and knowing that shows do get mis-labeled,

I'm taking a leap of faith here and going to go with the setlist.fm reference date.

If this is dated correctly, then this is the earliest live recording in circulation that I've seen.

This is even better quality then the previous BTO show I posted earlier. The quality is incredible on this !!!

I can only hope that I've done a good enough job in discovering a true date and venue.

That being said, BTO fans should have this short but sweet recording.

There are fade outs on each track.

Thanks again to BR for the tape.

Sample Provided.

Notes:
JEMS master recording. A good sounding recording but the vocals are very echoey sounding and the recording is very heavy on the bottom end to the point it almost drowns everything else out in spots. If you like heavy then this will make you very happy this is one of the heaviest rock performances I've heard in a long time. This show captures B.T.O. touring in support of their Bachman-Turner Overdrive II album.

Dan Lampinski recorded over 100 concerts in the Providence/Boston area, mostly between 1974 and 1978. His earliest recordings were made with an internal microphone deck, and though they are somewhat lo-fi compared to his later work, some very great moments in rock history were captured for posterity. In late 1974 he bought a Sony TC-152SD tape recorder, a Sony ECM-99 stereo microphone, and began using Maxell cassettes. He was also fortunate enough to have a friend who provided excellent taping seats for many shows, resulting in high quality recordings. In 1977, he switched over to a Nakamichi 550 tape recorder, two Nakamichi CM-300 microphones, and continued using Maxell cassettes.

He recorded many of the major 70's bands: Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Queen, Blue Oyster Cult, Frank Zappa, Jethro Tull, ELP, Kiss, Black Sabbath, The Who, Al Stewart, Alice Cooper, Jeff Beck, Bruce Springsteen, Supertramp, Jean-Luc Ponty, Moody Blues, Neil Young, The Faces, Rush, Rick Wakeman, Kansas, as well as several "under the radar" acts.

Since Dan never traded copies of his recordings, they are all essentially uncirculated. Some copies were made for friends, but these releases are the first time most of these recordings have ever seen the light of day, and are direct from his master cassettes. No EQ'ing has been done to any of the transfers. Feel free to EQ, matrix, patch, etc and re-post if you like, just give Dan credit for the original recording.

Dan was very meticulous about taking good care of his tapes and is very pleased that these recordings will now circulate among the trading community. Please honour his kindness and generosity by sharing these recordings freely.

The transfers are available as 16bit/44.1KHz flac files suitable for CD burning, and also as 24bit/96KHz flac files for those who prefer the higher resolution.

Always remember - the more generous you are with your music, the more it comes back to you.

In the eyes of the cat - Nu Music

I always had a strange relationship with cats; they appeared in my life in unexpected moments, either in a group or alone crossing the street and running to rub on my legs as if they knew me, telling me, what? and always waking my alert.
Regards

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nknYW90rcA

I look in the eyes of my cat, cat, cat,
and I feel trapped
by a spiral
made, made,
of blue and jade, jade,
of blue and jade, jade,

That cat that knows all my thoughts
and feels my senses
making me become a shadow
at the bottom of its gaze, gaze, gaze,

Dancing among other shadows that were me,
me, me,
at the time, time, time,
at the time, time, time...

That cat that knows all my thoughts
and feels my senses
making me become a shadow
at the bottom of its gaze, gaze, gaze,

making me become a shadow
at the bottom of its gaze, gaze, gaze, cat

dancing among other shadows that were me,
me, me,
at the time, time, time,
at the time, time, time...

================================================== ================
