HUDSON
DeJohnette, Scofield, Medeski and Grenadier
St Louis 2017 [no label, 2CD]

Live at the Sheldon Concert Hall, St Louis, MO; October 14, 2017. Very good audience recording.

Legendary drummer Jack DeJohnette invites bassist Larry Grenadier, keyboardist John Medeski and guitarist John Scofield to help ring in his 75th birthday in this amazing new collaboration. Each known as hard swinging jazz masters in their own right, these acclaimed musicians concentrate their dynamic chemistry into a once-in-a lifetime collaboration celebrating DeJohnette, who the Los Angeles Times calls “one of the finest living jazz drummers.” Inspired by the beauty and spirit of their home region, New York’s Hudson River Valley, these famed improvisers bring fresh dimensions to Woodstock associated classics by Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Jimi Hendrix and The Band and as well as compelling original compositions. The group released its self-titled album in June 2017.
