U2 live in St. Paul 1987 - 2CD - November 4

1987-11-04 Saint Paul Civic Center - Saint Paul, Minnesota
Unknown source and lineage, CDR received in trade.

On a scale of 1 to 5 stars, this rates a 3. I consider this an average recording at best. It has moments of good clarity, but it can switch quickly to a rather muddy sound. It's as if the taper kept walking behind some large object that obscured the sound (or covered the mic for some reason). There is some hiss evident at higher volumes. Track 11 of disc 1 is missing the first minute or so and was apparently edited to fade at the end. Likewise, track 8 of disc 2 fades at the end, while track 9 of disc 2 sounds like it was taken from a completely different recording (although spectral and frequency analysis match between d2t09 and the rest of the tracks [early levelling with an odd spike at 16KHz]).

That said, when it sounds good, it sounds very good. Bad is executed particularly well, and Bono generally seems to connect with the crowd. I've heard unconfirmed rumors that the 11/3 and 11/4 dates in St. Paul were the first completely sold-out shows for U2.
